Week 11

Weekly Greetings! Last week started off with a cute play for Halloween presented by the K-2 1st quarter pod class. It was postponed from last Friday, as one of the main characters was absent. The fourth grade seemed to enjoy the play, and it added to the excitement building up for Halloween. Please read and return the sign up sheet going home with the parent letter. It explains the details for the Halloween parade, our class party, and the fund raising event all happening this Tuesday for Halloween. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Something that is on the school calendar, though I have not heard too much about, is the Scholastic Book Fair. It is listed as this week, and usually opens on Halloween night during the Tok Street Tick -or- Treat. Also note that I will not be sending any homework home on Halloween night. Have a fun filled week!

Week 10

Weekly Greetings! It is hard to believe that we just completed the first quarter of school! The months up to Christmas Vacation always seem to fly by, as there are so many special holidays and events. We have been talking about, and making some things for the Halloween Haunted House. Last week the class made bats for decorates, and we have been talking about costumes that might scare those that dare to venture in for the frightful tour. The third and fourth grades will split the profits from the event, and we are very much in need of some parent help. Please let me know if you can contribute some time or materials. We had our monthly visit to the Makerspace room last week, and after everyone made a bat decoration, they had free time to create in the room. It was also the last week of the first quarter Pod classes, and my group learned about a few Africa Folk Tales. To conclude the two-days of lessons, the students were able to color some African masks. I hope their cl

Weekly Greetings! Wow! Winter is here in full force! Now that so much snow has arrived, the students will need all their winter gear for recess. If they are not fully dresses, it is my understanding that they will have to sit at the office until recess is over. Also, they will have to have all their gear to ride the bus. This will be the last week of the first quarter. We will be finishing another chapter in math, and the students will have a chapter test on Wednesday. Then we will be moving into multiplication and division. On Tuesday, we are scheduled for our monthly visit to the Makerspace STEAM room, and we will start to make decorations for the Haunted House during the Tok Street Trick-or -Treat event on Halloween.  We will be teaming with the third grade for a class fundraiser. If you have any ideas, or want to help out, please contact me. Last week, we had a couple of special activities. The first was on Tuesday when the students were challenged with a Place Value breakout

Week 8

Weekly Greetings! Even though we had a full five-day week, it seemed to fly by! Before I knew it, Friday had arrived! We are pressing on in all content areas, with only an interruption on Thursday for class pictures. There will be a make up day this Thursday for students that were absent. It was decided that we would cancel the pod classes on Friday to watch a home game of volleyball. The JV game we sat in on was very exciting and I think most of the students enjoyed watching it. On Tuesday this week, Jane Teague will be in during math to do some special activities surrounding place value. It has been a hard concept for some of the students, so we will try a different approach. Also on Wednesday, we will begin our once a month visit to the kindergarten class to be book buddies. The fourth graders will read stories to the younger ones and be good role models. That is about it for this week. It looks like winter is starting to settle in,  so again, please remember to send w
