Weekly Greetings! It is hard to believe that this is the last week in January! Starting Tuesday, and continuing through Thursday, it will be the mid year MAP testing for the fourth grade. Please make sure your child is on time and well rested those days, as it will help them do well on the standardized tests. As for last week, we started off on Monday with a special motivational basketball coach that worked with all the students from 4th grade and up.  All the students seemed to enjoy the activities.  Tuesday was our monthly Makerspace visit, and the students always seem to look forward to making use of all the wonderful materials available to use in the room. On Wednesday, there was a special Math Solutions presenter that worked with the 4th and 5th grades.   She had the students work together using fraction manipulatives. I apologize for not getting pictures. I was taking notes, and trying to learn from her presentation myself! Stay warm and have a wonder

Weekly Greetings! Last week the class continued to work on their posters for the Migratory Bird Calendar contest. Some of them are really turning out lovely. If you have not yet filled out the entry paperwork, I will be attaching a form to the parent letter this week. With all the cold weather over the last couple of weeks, the students have really missed going outside to play. Pretending to have a snow battle helped a little. It is always so nice to see how the kindergarten kids love being read to by their buddies, and the fourth graders are so good with the younger students.  After the library visit, we all went back to do a quick coloring activity and have a snack. As for this w eek, on Monday the class will participate in a spe

Weekly Greetings! For a short week, we packed in a lot of extra activities! On Monday, Mr. Dunning was in for a visit and discussed having courage to stand up to negative peer pressure. The students had not considered that before, and the concept of peer pressure was new to most of them.   Tim Lorenzini also was in for a visit on Tuesday. He helped the students get started on their Migratory Bird Calendar pictures. I was busy with four students that still needed to write their literature entry and I forgot to snap any pictures. The class will continue working on their poster entries again this week. If you have not signed the entry forms, please make time to fill them out and return them to me. Then at the end of the day Wednesday, there was a pep rally for the Homecoming basketball games happening over the weekend. There were a couple of games that included the elementary students, and one was to try to eat an Oreo cooking off of their foreheads.  The other thing that each
