Week 3

 Weekly Greetings!

I hope everyone enjoyed the three-day weekend, and the beautiful fall weather. With a day off on Monday, it will make for a short week for us all. I will be starting to send homework this week, but if your child is attending GAP it will most likely be done there. The GAP program is structured for the first 15 minutes, to have students do any homework or unfinished assignments that they bring. Also, please be aware that next Monday there will be a teacher in-service, so there will not be school that day.

The school counselor will be making monthly visits to the class, and he will start this week off with additional social skills enrichment. As I mentioned last week, we are really focusing on an attitude of perseverance to be successful in life.
There are a couple other important events this week, starting on Wednesday there will be the Student of the Month assembly for August, and birthday recognition for August and September. It will start at 8:30am. On Friday, we will have a district wide Cross Country competition beginning at 1pm, and Jamboree activities from 3:30pm to 5:30pm to raise money for the athletic department.

The students have been running on the school track to get in shape, and after they completed their laps we picked lowbush cranberries. To help raise money at the Jamboree, we baked a sweet bread with the lowbush cranberries to be sold at the Jamboree bake sale. On last Friday, students worked in small groups and took turns with adding eggs and other ingredients, while carefully mixing it all together. There was enough for us all to try some at the end of the day, and the bread turned out delicious. I hope to see you at some of the events this week!
