Week 7

Weekly Greetings!

First, I want to make sure you are aware that school pictures will be this Thursday, October 3. There will be a make up day the following week if your child is out that day. We will start the week off with Science again and have started a unit on living things. Last week we studied the life cycle and parts of the butterflies we had had in the class and then let them go to complete their life cycle in freedom. The next day we made a butterfly craft as a memory.

The afternoon Pod classes are going well. I have half of the 4th graders in my Folk Tales and Legends class. We have studied numerous folk characters such as Johnny Appleseed, Paul Bunyan, and John Henry.  The students have enjoyed the creative problem solving kits that have supported those three main characters.
The MAP testing went well last week, and thank you for having your child there everyday. On Friday we celebrated the completion by tossing our foam frisbees around the room to music. It was a nice release from all the thinking that took place during testing.
Please make sure your child has warm clothes for recess. The school policy sends them outside down to 20 below zero. Last Thursday, the recess aide had to bring the students inside after a little time out, as too many students were cold and did not have warm enough gear.

Have an awesome week!
