Week 17

 Weekly Greetings!

Before I dive into all the exciting activities that happened last week, let me fill you in on what is happening this week. First of all there are two early release days at 1:30pm this week. The first will be on Thursday the 19th,  and also Friday the 20th. Friday will be a special day for the elementary. They can wear pajamas and bring a blanket to watch a Christmas movie together in the Multi Purpose Room in the morning. Also, we will have our class party after lunch at 12pm. Please see the food sign-up at the end of the parent letter. Lastly, be aware that there will not be any homework this week, and only two days of G.A.P. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Now, to recap all the highlights from last week! Wednesday was our monthly Book Buddies visit. Ms. Deb took us on a journey to Mexico, complete with make believe passports. Then the students learned about the legend of the Poinsettia.
As usual, we went to the library so that the older kids could read to the younger ones. It is really sweet to see how they are bonding with their Book Buddies.
When we returned to class, the older students helped the younger one make a craft.
Finally, everyone got to have traditional Mexican Christmas bread for snack. It was delicious.
A great picture of the fourth grade and the kindergarten kids.

Later, Ms. Jane was in to guide the students in a Breakout math activity using multiplication to solve the clues and open the locked boxes. I hope to do one of these activities once a month. The students love the challenge.

Thursday was another eventful day. In the afternoon was the elementary Christmas concert.
Then after that, the school hosted a Success Night to display student work throughout the school. Our class presented their Six Keys to Success books from the start of the year.
In addition, one of the essays they have written, with a picture, was out to share.
Most recently, each fourth grade student read a biography on a famous person and completed a poster report on the person they read about. I think that they all felt really great about the work they have been doing.
This is the last week of school until 2020, and it is the end of the first semester.  School will resume on January 6 in the New Year. I hope you have a warm and wonderful holiday.
