Week 18

Greetings in 2020!

Starting into the New Year, it is hard to believe our school year is now officially half over! Semester 2 and the 3rd Quarter have begun! Hopefully, everyone will start off healthy and well rested. By the time it was to start the winter break, there were only 4 out of the 14 fourth graders in attendance. Two types of flu really took its toll on every class.

Those that were in attendance, finished projects for Christmas and even helped complete the projects of students at home sick. We tried some new holiday ideas, and one was a no bake fruitcake. The students had fun making it and each had a loaf to take home. We also sent a dozen loaves over to the Senior Center to be shared with the elders that eat there.
Another new idea was to make seed ordainments to put out for the winter birds. We followed the directions explicitly, but they still did not firm up as they should have. Hopefully, it worked out once they got frozen. I know the one I made for the birds at my house has been being nibbled at daily since I placed it outside.
The day before our class party, the students still in attendance helped decorate cookies. I am glad I sent some home with them, as we hardly had anyone there for our party the next day. We did invite the 3rd grade to join us on Friday and played some games before eating snacks and watching a short movie.
If you missed our door decoration, I added a photo since after the door completion it was taken down.
Finally, our first week back will be a short one due to teacher in-servicing and the basketball tournament. With only three days of school, I decided to wait on sending homework home until the following week. With the parent letter going home, I will need you to fill out the two entry forms for the Migratory Bird Calendar contest each student is entering. They will be submitting a poem and a picture, so that is why I need two forms filled out. Thank you in advance!

Stay warm and happy New Year!
