Week 24

Weekly Greetings!

What a great week we had! In-between our regular content work, we did a few additional enjoyable activities. It is always fun to get with the kindergarten students for Book Buddies. The theme for the activity time was Valentine's Day, and the fourth grade was greeted with cards made by their little buddies. Then everyone settled in for a read aloud before heading to the library.
 It is so sweet to watch the class snuggle up with books to read that their buddies have picked.
 Once back in the classroom, there were lots of word games and movement activities before a yummy snack.
On Friday, we were fortunate to get some time with Ms. Shauna Lee to work with clay. The students have started a bowl project.
To end our day on Friday, we had our Valentine's Day party. There were all kinds of treats and cards to share before we watched a short history on where the celebration originated. The love was surely felt by all in room!
The class snacks are running low, and if you can contribute it would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully, as we start our week the weather will warm up so the class can get outside more. The cold stretch,  in addition to working on long division in math, has had some in the class a bit grumpy.

Weekly Greetings! The week before we had the Thanksgiving break started off with a visit from the school councilor. Mr. Dunning gave the students strategies using an "I message" to let other students know how they feel if their feelings have been hurt.  The class listened and discussed ways to use the social skill, and then each student practiced using the strategy. Tuesday was our monthly visit to the Makerspace room to explore and create using all the wonderful supplies provided there. It is really fun to watch the students interact and use their imaginations during our time in the room. Returning from the Thanksgiving break leaves just three weeks before the end of the semester and Christmas break. The class will be working on songs to sing during the Christmas program December 12, and completing a biography project in reading. Have a terrific week!

Weekly Greetings! I hope you all enjoyed the four-day break, and that you have been successful with the fall moose harvest. With a short three days last week, we spent some time doing review work but will press full on this week. Probably the only real highlight from our short week was the pep rally on Friday afternoon to announce the start of Volleyball season. The third through fifth grade classes attended in their pod  groups and watched the serving contest. Everyone was invited to compete from each grade in attendance, but I could not get any fourth graders to try...Even so, I think everyone enjoyed the event. The MAP testing window opens this week, but with the long weekend and hunting season, I will wait for the following week to test. It is always important to have your child well rested and on time, but especially when we have to do these standardized tests. Most of the students made good gains last year, and I am hoping to keep that momentum going this year. H

Weekly Greetings! To start with, there are a number of important dates on the horizon that I need to share with you. The first is an assembly for the Wolverine Value of the month on this Wednesday at 8:30am. The next date is Monday, November 11, when there will be a Veteran's Day assembly at 9:00am. Then finally, there will not be any school on Friday, November 15, as there will be Parent Teacher conferences. We are finalizing the times, and aligning the sibling's times, so I should be sending home information by the end of the week. Also, the Book Fair dates were changed from last week, and will be starting on November 14 through the 23rd. It will be open during conferences, if you would like to do some shopping for the holidays. Other important information that I need to relay is that there will not be any GAP this week because the main leadership will be out of town. Additionally, the school is now only providing snacks for the students on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I am
