Week 28

Greetings,

I am assuming, like myself, most of you reading this are following the updates on the COVID-19 pandemic. After a great week leading up to our Spring Break, it hard to accept that we are on hold for  the students to return to school. I am sure by now,  most of you have been contacted by the district as they have rapidly been addressing this situation. It is my understanding that they are getting a food program in place, and teachers have been informed to prepare packets of schoolwork by March 27. This also means that Parent/Teacher conferences are on hold until further notice. I will making an effort to contact you all in the upcoming days.

As for that wonderful week we had before break, here are a few photos. Due to the cold weather on the Wednesday we planned our sledding outing with the class "Book Buddies", we had to wait until Friday morning. Instead, we still got together and learned a little about the history and traditions of St. Patrick's Day. After a visit to the library, the students went on a hunt in the 4th grade classroom for green coins with riddles on them. Once the riddles were found, and a word search completed, everyone got a bowl of Lucky Charms and chocolate gold.
The sledding trip to Airport Hill was so much fun, complete with a bonfire and hot cocoa.
We had our last week of the pod classes for the 3rd quarter before closing for the break. The students in my Science Fair Preparation pod completed some STEM projects, and we also looked at the chemical changes in yeast. One day the class saw the different ways yeast created a gas, and the next day how it is used to make bread. In addition, each student rubberized a raw egg though only a few eggs made it out of theorem without breaking....
As we work through all the changes taking place right now in our world, I wish you good health and I am confident at some point our lives will return to normal.
